'Long'-term farmers

Brooks Long, 23, and his wife, Katie, have a 4 1/2-month-old son, Kaleb - the family's hope, so far, that the farm will be kept alive and running by a Long.

Saturday, to celebrate 175 years, Long DeLite Farm is hosting a large lunch for invited guests, including political dignitaries, followed by an open house for whomever wants to take a tour and pet the animals.

Brooks works with his father, Galen, 54, and his grandfather, Lawrence, who will turn 83 Saturday.

They have about 60 milking cows and 50 to 60 heifers, who won't be milked until they have their first calves, at about 2 years old.

The Longs also grow corn, barley and hay.

"You've got to want to farm," said Lawrence Long, who the family knows as Pap-pa, the clan's Mr.

Teekay creates master limited partnership

NASSAU, Bahamas, June 12 (UPI) -- Teekay Shipping Corp, based in the Bahamas, will create a master limited partnership for marine tanker and offshore storage assets.

To be called Teekay Offshore Partners LP, the new entity is expected to participate in Teekay's investments in the floating production storage and offloading business, the company said Monday.

Teekay expects to file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a registration statement for the initial public offering of the common units of the master limited partnership in the second half of this year.

A master limited partnership seeks to combine the tax benefits of a limited partnership with the liquidity of publicly traded securities.

Teekay Shipping, which owns 140 tankers, transports more than 10 percent of the world's seaborne oil.

KINSHASA, Congo

When the U.N. Security Council headed to Africa on a 10-day trip, ambassadors thought their biggest security nightmare could come during a visit to a camp for Sudanese or Chadians caught up in the Darfur conflict and angry at the United Nations. But it turned out their scariest moment came from a "haboob" - a word few had ever heard.

Flying back from Juba, the capital of southern Sudan, and approaching the national capital, Khartoum, on the evening of June 8, the ambassadors were talking about their meetings to promote implementation of a January 2005 peace agreement ending another conflict - the 21-year civil war between the government and southern rebels - when the pilot suddenly revved up the engines.

‘I do.’ ‘I do, too’: Sisters marry in one ceremony

When Coleman and Mary say "I do," it will be in front of nearly 1,000 invited guests in the church where their grandparents and parents were wed. The couples will be attended by 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime event to share with our families and together," said Mary, noting the help the sisters had received from their mother and older sister, Gini. Virginia Stevenson, the sisters' grandmother, hand-addressed more than 500 wedding invitations.

Coleman and Mary said they had tried to laugh often and enjoy everything leading to their big day.

After the ceremony, the Blackwelders will honeymoon in Mexico. The Swearingens will cruise to the Bahamas. It will be the farthest the sisters, who have lived with each other all but two years of their lives, have ever been away from each other.
