FNMs should boycott national celebrations
I am really appalled by recent reports that former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham and members of Her Majesty's loyal Opposition in Parliament were once again humiliated by a ninth hour invitation to another official government function.At first instance, I thought that perhaps it was another example of the "sluggishness," indecency and disorder that pervade this administration.
However, as I considered it further, I have conceded that it was an obvious attempt to deride Mr Ingraham and by extension, his supporters, the Bahamian public, given the recurring nature of these acts.
Such exclusion of the people's chosen representatives is a disgrace to this Progressive Liberal Party government. It displays immaturity and great disrespect of the Bahamian people, whether or not they are supporters of the Free National Movement.
Jackson Memorial Hospital reaches out to affluent patients to close budget gap

NPC Chairman says Bahamas vs. USA show is friendly rivalry
The idea of having a "U.S.A vs. The Bahamas" Bodybuilding showdown was something that was deemed a good idea a long time ago.But it remained just that, a "good idea" and was put on the shelf to gather dust for years.
It was Baldwin Darling, president of the Grand Bahama Bodybuilding Association, who took the idea off the shelf, blew off the dust and revived it.
That "good idea" will come to life on Saturday at the Hilton Outten Conven-tion Centre, in one of the biggest bodybuilding shows ever in Grand Bahama.
Call it friendly rivalry, but for local bodybuilding, it will be the start of a partnership and friendship that should span a number of years of growth.

Red Lobster and Olive Garden report lower sales
Darden Restaurants Inc. reported sales for its two largest brands, Red Lobster and Olive Garden were off approximately 10 percent from last year in its latest same-restaurant sales results.For the five- week June fiscal month ended July 2, same-restaurant sales at Olive Garden increased 3 percent to 4 percent for fiscal June, which reflected a 1 percent to 2 percent increase in guest counts and an approximate 2 percent increase in check average. The check average increase was primarily due to pricing. Last year, Olive Garden had a 10 percent to 11 percent increase in same-restaurant sales.
