Entrants were invited to submit a story of 50 words or less about why they should escape everyday life and come to The Bahamas and the winner would have their story posted on www.Bahamas.com. After over 140,000 entries from people all over the world, the winner was randomly drawn by executives of the Grand Bahama Tourism Board. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Murano of New York were selected among thousands of entries.

Starwood Vacation Ownership Announces Major Expansion Plans for the Westin St. John Resort & VillasStarwood Vacation Ownership, a division of Starwood Hotels&Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT), today announced major expansion plans for the Westin St. John Resort&Villas in St. John, USVI. The new Bay Vista phase will include a total of 94 two and three bedroom villas overlooking the island and the picturesque Great Cruz Bay.Construction plans call for the conversion of 186 hotel rooms in seven buildings in the hillside section of the resort to become vacation ownership villas. Construction of the first phase includes 54 villas and will begin in July, 2006 with an expected occupancy in late 2007. The second phase of 40 villas will begin shortly thereafter. Sales of the new phase will also begin in July. "This is an ambitious project based on the increasing demand of luxury vacation ownership resorts in the Caribbean. Conflicting reports on buyer for Royal OasisPrime Minister Perry Christie's latest comment regarding a buyer for the Royal Oasis has taken a number of listeners by surprise.Last Wednesday, in his wrap up on the 2006/2007 Budget debate in the House of Assembly, the nation's chief executive revealed that there were two potential buyers for the distressed resort property in Grand Bahama. His remarks came just one week after he announced on June 2 there was a buyer for the resort, when he presented the 2006/2007 Budget. Prime Minister Christie did not give the name of the buyer, but said then that government representatives were closing a meeting in New York. "And at that meeting, Lehman Brothers (the financier of Driftwood Freeport Ltd., which owns Royal Oasis) and the government have agreed to a purchaser for the Royal Oasis," he said.
