James Bond has met his match -- not a fellow spy but a tap-dancing penguin. The Warner Bros. animated penguin romp Happy Feet debuted with US$42.3 million on the weekend, grabbing an edge for the No. 1 slot over Sony's Bond adventure Casino Royale, which opened with $40.6 million, according to studio estimates yesterday. The two films were close enough that their rankings could change when final numbers are released today. "Happy Feet is just ahead by a flipper," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations. "It's unusual to have two movies this close, battling for that No. 1 position." Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner, said Happy Feet was solidly ahead and that the rankings would not flip-flop today. "It's not going to happen," Fellman said. "It's a clear victory here." The box-office leader the last two weekends, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, slipped to third with $14.35 million, lifting its total to $90.5 million.

Govt, BUT landmark deal signed

The Government and the Bahamas Union of Teachers yesterday signed their completed landmark industrial agreement that laid out the terms and conditions of service and the requirements for the government.

The signing took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Education, four months after both sides sealed the deal for the financial portion of the contract. It is understood that the total sum of the package is $6 million, and allows for a vast number of benefits the teachers can enjoy as a condition of their employment.

Included in the benefits is a 12 month sabbatical leave with pay after 10 years of service, union leave, travel leave for pregnant teachers, paternity and adoption leave.

Teachers have been granted a number of concessions.

Businessman wants to evict Smith from Bahamas mansion

NASSAU, Bahamas A businessman involved in a property dispute with Texan Anna Nicole Smith today said he wants her evicted.

The reality T-V star has been in seclusion at a mansion in the Bahamas since the September death of her 20-year-old son, David, just days after she bore a daughter.

South Carolina developer Ben Thompson says he's a former boyfriend of Smith, they met about 18 months ago and had a "short relationship."

Thompson told reporters in Nassau that he loaned Smith money to buy the house for nearly one (M) million dollars. Thompson says Smith failed to make mortgage payments.

He said they remained friendly until the house dispute.

Thompson also says Smith told him that he's the father of baby Dannielynn, but the developer says he's certain that's not true.
