Anna Nicole Smith loses power again

Anna Nicole Smith has lost her appeal with the power company to have electricity permanently restored to her home in the Bahamas.

Anna Nicole's ex G Ben Thompson claims Anna Nicole is illegally living in the property that he owns as she has not paid him the money due for the sale of the house. He requested that the local electricity company cut power to the estate last week when he filed her with an eviction notice but after a few hours with no power, Anna Nicole's lawyers fought for a temporary reprieve until this week on the basis of her health and that of her newborn daughter.

However, now that the temporary reprieve has expired, electricity has been cut again. Anna Nicole was reportedly still in the property on Friday when members of the Nassau police force tried to issue her with a second eviction notice - but according to TMZ, they could not get in as the estate's electric gates couldn't be opened.

Bahamas Realty wins award for best website

A leading international luxury market real estate association has voted Bahamas Realty website number one for 2006, ranking it top in a field of 1,100 members in a competition that included many of the world's most exclusive firms.

The honour, awarded in Chicago during the closing ceremony of the 11th Annual Luxury Real Estate Member-ship Conference, took Bahamas Realty CEO Larry Roberts by surprise.

"To win this award in a global arena in competition with the who's who of luxury real estate brokers and offices, to be singled out in this kind of exclusive high-end market competition, is really quite an honour," said Roberts, a second generation realtor whose father founded the firm in 1949.

Bahamas Realty was first to introduce web marketing as a sales tool for property in The Bahamas.

Palm Beach County reports no Masilotti meddling on Posse land bid

Disgraced politician Tony Masilotti didn't exercise undue influence over a county land sale in which federal authorities say the former county commissioner had a hidden financial stake, according to a county staff report released Tuesday.

While Masilotti kept a close watch over the sale of a county-owned, 10-acre parcel -- dubbed the Posse property -- to his close friend and campaign contributor, Bruce Rendina, "nothing interfered with the fair and impartial evaluation of the proposals," according the report from the county's property and real estate management director, Ross Hering.

At the same time Masilotti intervened on Rendina's behalf after the bidding ended, the ex-commissioner was taking numerous free plane rides to the Bahamas and elsewhere from Rendina without disclosing the gifts, according to the U.S.

Auction Set for North Carolina Mountain Mansion in Exclusive Gated Community

Waynesville, NC (PRWEB) October 26, 2006 -- Surrounded by breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains, the majestic home at 1967 Lickstone Road in Highland Forest offers prospective buyers the opportunity to own a beautiful mansion or a lot in an exclusive gated community at auction prices, according to Leonard Hartsook of The Redfield Group, Inc. .

ART MARKET WATCH

While works by Willem de Kooning and Andy Warhol are the gold standard at the uptown auction houses, at Phillips, de Pury & Co. in Chelsea the coin of the realm is Richard Prince and Christopher Wool. The room is fairly raw and much smaller, the crowd certainly is younger and prettier, and the totals considerably less. Phillips contemporary art sale of Nov. 16, 2006, totaled $29,694,800, with 60 of 68 lots finding buyers, or 88 percent.

And despite a sense that the sale was lackluster, auction records were set for 18 artists. Among these are several names relatively new to the evening sales, including Hernan Bas ($168,000), Jim Lambie ($144,000), Qiu Shi-Hua ($137,000), Banks Violette ($117,000) and Mark Handforth ($114,000). Clearly, Phillips remains a place for market movers to put new names in play.

Law firm strikes back

Minister of Immigration Shane Gibson is attempting to mislead the Bahamian public as it relates to the sale of a home to actress Anna Nicole Smith, attorneys at Callender's & Co claimed last night.

In a press statement issued to The Guardian, the firm accused Mr Gibson of using the privilege of the House of Assembly to "vilify" the firm and two of its lawyers, Mr Michael Scott and Ms Tracy Ferguson.

The firm also noted that it was "alarmed" that Minster Gibson would deny that he received a cheque from Anna Nicole Smith at her Horizons home.

Earlier this week, Mr Gibson, while speaking in the House of Assembly, called for Mr Scott and Ms Ferguson to resign, alleging that the attorneys had omitted important information in their representation of Ms Smith regarding the purchase of the Eastern Road home.
