Anna Nicole Baby Shocker

TMZ has learned that Anna Nicole Smith confessed during her pregnancy that Larry Birkhead was the father of her baby. Sources tell TMZ that late last year, Anna Nicole began having sexual relations with Gaither Ben Thompson, a wealthy real estate developer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We're told that Howard K. Stern, the lawyer who claims to be the father of Anna Nicole's newborn baby, was in Myrtle Beach during the time Anna Nicole was seeing Thompson. Remember, Stern has said he had a long-term relationship with Anna Nicole, which seems odd given that Stern accompanied Smith to Myrtle Beach.Sources say in May of this year, Anna Nicole contacted Thompson to say that he was the father of her soon-to-be-born baby girl. It's especially interesting because we're told that Anna Nicole had contacted people familiar with Thompson inquiring about his wealth.

Oasis sale is still on Prime Minister assures House

Strongly refuting continuous reports that the multi-million Royal Oasis sale between World Investment Holdings and Lehman Brothers has fallen through, Prime Minis-ter Perry Christie said yesterday that there has only been some changes within the purchasing group.

"In other words, one of those who was a part of the purchasing team has communicated to the Government that they have now fallen away and the others have gone on without that particular personality," said Christie, answering a question posed by Member of Parliament for High Rock Kenneth Russell.

Addressing Members of Parliament in the House of Assembly during the morning session Wednesday, Christie added that the Government has been aware that there has been a change in the purchasing team interested in the $40 million deal.

'Anna Nicole owns house'

Anna Nicole Smith is the outright owner of the Eastern Road house where she has been living since September, her attorney Wayne Munroe claimed yesterday.

And Mr Munroe said he had filed a Supreme Court writ asking that Ms Smith, who is also known as Vickki Lynn Marshall, be declared owner of the disputed property.

Ben Thompson, a friend of Ms Smith, has claimed, through the law firm Callender's and Co, that he owns the house and that the conveyance which deeded the property - known as Horizons - to Ms Smith, was contingent upon a mortgage she was to take out on the house.

"The conveyance in this case is from George Clifford Culmer as liquidator of Americanas Bank and Ron Kelly, who is the previous owner [of Horizons] and Vickki Marshall, who is also known as Anna Nicole Smith," Mr Munroe told The Nassau Guardian in a telephone interview yesterday.

Mitchell backs NHI plan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell said yesterday that the government is right on time in implementing the National Health Insurance plan as many sick Bahamians are being denied medical attention.

Mr Mitchell, who was a guest on Jeff Lloyd's radio talk show yesterday, said that bringing into effect something like the NHI, to address pressing health care issues, was long overdue.

Responding to NHI critics who have accused the government of rushing the plan without the proper consultation, the foreign affairs minister insisted that officials had taken all the necessary steps required, at this point, in dealing with the matter.

"It's not being rushed, there has been the fullest consultations," he said. "The framework legislation is going to be passed, we hope before the end of the year, because this is a landmark legislation.

Old Values in New Urbanism

Garcia Stromberg Architects sees old values in New Urbanism, and is making these concepts desirable for public and planners alike. New Urbanism and Smart Growth are quickly morphing into the next generation of development. Although Disneys Town of Celebration was one of its first proponents, New Urbanism is based upon principles of authentic old town life, not merely a replica of it. In the manner of you got chocolate on my peanut butter you got peanut butter on my chocolate the principles of New Urbanism are smacking squarely into the tenets of Smart Growth. Development with heart-centered design principles at its core is what commuter weary people want a meaningful sense of place, concentrated in one place. Hundreds of thousands of acres are opening up in a way that many had not anticipated, having been lulled into a false sense that developable land was so over in Florida.
